The signature project of Rotary Club of Pune karvenagar is “Waari”. During this project, the ambulance donated by the club is with “Dnyaneshwar Maharaaj” palakhi for 15 days. There is a group of doctors who travel with the ambulance and provide medical assistance to “Waarkaris” free of cost. This assistance includes giving medication for troubles like cough, fever, body pain which are normally faced by “Waarkaris” who walk from Alandi to Pandharpur tirelessly for a period of about two weeks. Dr. Bhagwan Narkhede, one of the past members of the club, guides this whole journey of ambulance of two weeks. His wife Dr. Harshita Narkhede also guides another ambulance which is with “Tukaram maharaja” palakhi. There are also additional couple of ambulances in which patients are further treated of a minor surgery (like nail extraction) is needed. Hats off to a doctor couple of Dr. Narkhede who are consistently doing this activity from more than 20 years. Members of Rotary Club of Pune Karvenagar visit one of the halt places of palakhi every year and offer their services. They help to regulate the flow of patients to busy doctors, apply oil and massage feet of Waarkaris and classify medicines as per instructions of doctor. On 3rd July 2024, Rtn. Ashok Bapat, Rtn. Milind Agnihotri and President Rtn. Deepak Thite visited Saswad to offer services on behalf of club.
